Strategic Metal Reserves, most metals are strategic.
There’s a “strategic oil reserve” with capacity up to 714 million barrels while currently 351 million barrels on hold. With enough domestic inground or untapped reserves (stranded) there is no need for a strategic oil reserve. Those days are gone. Now, is the time for strategic metals/minerals reserves, in other words, America needs more mines and mining infrastructure. The metals/minerals are abundant what is not is the capacity to process, refine, and store the metals. More so if “green” standards are meant to be implemented. We’ll go over that in future blogs.
Most mined metals coming into the U.S. are not green; the domestic mining industry is too green. To develop a mining project, you have to forecast even up to ten years before full scale production. We do not want another repeat when OPEC held the key to energy. Metals & minerals are the keys to the future of energy and all related industries auto, military, renewables. Strategic reserves are needed not shuttered mines.
