“The Lobito Atlantic Railway”

Until 2024 there were only two working routes out of the DRC both lead to the Indian Ocean:
1st: Red rail line eastward thru Tanzania’s Port of Dar es Salaam
2nd: Black line by truck and south to Port of Durban South Africa
-Both 1st & 2nd exit via the Indian Ocean
Most shipments heading to the far east for battery production.

3rd. Circled in Red: The refurbished rail line towards the Atlantic. “The Lobito Line” + potential add links to Zambia’ Copper belt.
Zambia’s Copper mines

Africa’s copper & cobalt once a 50 day journey until 2024, a long defunct rail line has been refurbished cutting the transit time to just six days.

A first shipment of copper cathodes originating in the DRC was just made August 22, 2024 from the refurbished deep water Port of Lobito, in Angola to the United States port of Baltimore.
